Coaching Points
- Balance between pushing intensity to improve fitness and allowing adequate recovery.
- Adjust overload by modulating intensity or duration carefully.
- Encourage speed endurance to maintain performance over time.
- Focus on anaerobic bursts followed by recovery to manage energy.
- Ensure players understand the importance of quick recuperation between bouts.
- Train to perform under fatigue while maintaining technique.
- Use the activity to prepare players for the final minutes of a match.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce rest time between rounds.
2. Increase the size of the playing area for a greater challenge.
3. Use only one gate, requiring more agility to change direction.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the rest period between 1v1s.
2. Use a larger gate to ease scoring.
3. Decrease the playing area to reduce running demands.
