Equipment
- Cones to mark a 50x40 area
- Four small goals, one for each side
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 50x40 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Four small goals, one centred on each of the four sides of the area
- Group: 4 outfield players (one representing each of the four teams) start together in the centre of the area
- Coach: 1 grey coach positioned at the edge of the area, feeding the ball into the centre to start the drill
- Equipment: Cones marking the 50x40 yard area, one small goal placed on each of the four sides, soccer balls for play
Instructions
- Begin the drill with the coach passing a ball into the center.
- Players compete to score in their designated goal.
- When a player scores, they remain in play and a teammate joins them.
- Continue until one team has all their players in play and scores once more.
- Monitor player workload and adjust duration based on fitness levels.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize ball control and quick passing.
- Encourage creating and capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
- Increase intensity to challenge aerobic systems.
- Adjust training load to avoid overtraining.
- Monitor and adapt recovery periods as needed.
- Maintain flexibility in planning to accommodate player needs.
- Aim for a balance between endurance and skill quality.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Require multiple goals to bring in additional players.
3. Add a neutral player to increase defensive pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Allow additional players to join upon any successful pass.
3. Use a larger ball to slow the pace.
