Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Goal
  • Cones
  • Soccer Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 40x45 yard area
  2. Goals: One goal on one end line
  3. Group: 1 blue outfield player starts near the cone, 20 yards from goal, facing the server
  4. Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line
  5. Coach: 1 grey server positioned on the end line opposite the goal with a supply of balls
  6. Equipment: 1 cone placed in the center of the area, 20 yards from the goal
Instructions
  1. The server plays the ball to the player's feet.
  2. The player takes a touch to control the ball, turning around the cone.
  3. The player quickly sets up and strikes the ball at goal.
  4. Emphasize speed and accuracy.
  5. Players rotate roles after each attempt, working from both sides of the cone.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage assertiveness and a positive attitude.
  • Keep the head up to assess options and strike accurately.
  • Quality and precision of the finish are paramount.
  • Consistently hit the target and follow rebounds.
  • Utilize both feet for more dynamic play.
  • Approach the ball actively to receive passes.
  • Ensure clear communication between server and shooter.
  • Deliveries should be accurate with the ball remaining on the ground.
  • Prioritize placement and shooting speed.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques regularly.
  • Focus on receiving technique - optimal body shape and touch.
  • Develop a variety of shooting techniques.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between the cone and goal.
2. Require players to finish using their weaker foot.
3. Add a passive defender to increase pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more than two touches before shooting.
2. Move the cone closer to the goal.
3. Remove the goalkeeper to reduce pressure.
