Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones for marking the area and zones
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area divided into three equal zones (each 10x20 yards), marked with cones.
  2. Team Red: 1 red defender starts in the middle zone without a ball.
  3. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players start with a ball each, one positioned in each of the two end zones.
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the perimeter of the 30x20 yard area and the boundaries between the three zones.
Instructions
  1. End zone players pass the ball along the ground through the middle (defender) zone to the opposite end zone.
  2. Defenders attempt to intercept the passes using feet only.
  3. If a defender intercepts, they switch places with the player who made the pass.
  4. Play continues for two-minute rounds before rotating players as needed.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication.
  • Focus on a good first touch to control the ball.
  • Keep your head up to assess passing options.
  • Move intelligently to create space.
  • Deliver accurate, well-timed, and disguised passes.
  • Choose the appropriate passing technique for each situation.
  • Open body when receiving to increase passing lanes.
  • Ensure awareness of teammates and defenders.
  • Use the furthest foot when receiving to exploit space.
  • Teach players to change angles with their first touch.
  • Emphasize the importance of a clear passing pathway.
  • Aim for quicker passing in tight spaces.
  • Highlight the significance of support angles and distances.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the zones to increase the challenge.
2. Increase the number of defenders in the middle zone.
3. Limit the touches allowed for end zone players.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the size of the zones for more space.
2. Decrease the number of defenders in the middle zone.
3. Allow unlimited touches for end zone players.
