Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking a 20x20 yard grid
  • One ball per player
  • Additional cones for space definition
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts inside the grid with a ball, spaced evenly from other players for individual maneuvering
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and sides of the 20x20 yard grid, one ball per player, additional cones used to define spacing between players
Instructions
  1. Players start by cutting the ball across their body with the inside of the foot.
  2. Immediately step over the ball with the opposite foot.
  3. Continue dribbling in the same direction using the outside of the stepping foot.
  4. Progress through stages by increasing speed and combining techniques.
Coaching Points
  • Accelerate quickly after performing the feint
  • Maintain close contact with the ball
  • Disguise your move to trick the opponent
  • Keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings
  • Execute the move with precise technique
  • Perform the feint at speed for effectiveness
  • Choose the right moment for the feint
  • Slightly bend knees for better balance
  • Increase fluency and speed gradually
  • Encourage head up dribbling, only glance down briefly
  • Repeat stages using the non-dominant foot
  • Develop comfort for 1v1 scenarios
  • Enhance spatial awareness during moves
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Instruct players to use less dominant foot
2. Combine two moves in succession
3. Add passive defenders to increase pressure
Make it easier:
1. Slow down the pace of the exercise
2. Allow stationary practice of the move
3. Offer verbal guidance while players perform the feint
