Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones/Markers to outline the playing area
  • Gate goals for scoring
  • Footballs for game play
Setup
  1. Area: 20x25 yard area divided into two equal halves by a central line, marked with cones
  2. Goals: One gate goal at the outer end of each half (2 gate goals total)
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players (attackers), 2 in each half, starting at the halfway line facing their half's gate goal
  4. Team Red: 4 red outfield players (defenders), 2 in each half, starting positioned between the attackers and the gate goal in their half
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the outline of the 20x25 yard area and the dividing line between the two halves, one gate goal set up at the far end of each half, footballs used for game play
Instructions
  1. Attackers aim to maneuver past defenders and score through gate goals.
  2. Once an attempt is completed, attackers rotate to the adjacent area to face new defenders.
  3. Continue rotations, ensuring all players experience attacking and defending roles.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Decide when to dribble or pass.
  • Focus on quality in passing, shooting, or dribbling.
  • Offer support to the attacking partner.
  • Keep ball movement fluid and away from defenders.
  • Approach every duel with a positive mindset.
  • Utilize quality techniques to maneuver past opponents.
  • Accelerate effectively when beating defenders.
  • Foster effective communication with the teammate.
  • Use feints and step-overs to deceive opponents.
  • Enable dribbling with both feet.
  • Swiftly change or reverse direction under pressure.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the speed at which players must attack.
2. Reduce the size of the playing area to close down space.
3. Mandate a minimum number of passes before a shot.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for more space.
2. Allow attackers an extra pass before needing to score.
3. Remove one defender for a 2v1 situation.
