Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Three poles
  • Multiple balls
  • One goal
  • One goalkeeper
Setup
  1. Area: 18-yard box
  2. Goals: One goal at the centre of the end line
  3. Group: 3 outfield players, one positioned at each of the three poles around the 18-yard box, each starting with a ball
  4. Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line
  5. Equipment: 3 poles arranged around the perimeter of the 18-yard box, multiple balls placed with each player at their pole
Instructions
  1. Player 1 dribbles around the pole and shoots.
  2. Player 1 turns to receive a pass from Player 2, then returns the ball to Player 2 for a shot on goal.
  3. Player 1 and Player 2 attack a lofted ball from Player 3, aiming to score.
  4. Rotate player positions: Player 1 to 2, 2 to 3, and 3 to 1.
  5. After a full rotation, the next team begins.
Coaching Points
  • Focus on shooting accuracy before power.
  • Encourage confident play and positive decision-making.
  • Ensure a quality first touch and quick adjustment to the ball.
  • Maintain a heads-up position to assess goalkeeper and target.
  • Emphasize consistent striking technique for varied angles and distances.
  • Promote the use of both feet for shooting.
  • Ensure that players move towards the ball when receiving.
  • Standing foot should point towards the target.
  • Coaches should demonstrate techniques and encourage repetition.
  • Tailor distance and difficulty to suit age and ability levels.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between the poles.
2. Reduce time allowed for shots, emphasizing quicker decisions.
3. Add a defender to pressure attackers.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the distance between poles.
2. Allow players more time to prepare their shots.
3. Remove the goalkeeper to focus on shooting technique.
