Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 2 Goals
  • Multiple balls
  • Cones for boundaries and halfway line
Setup
  1. Area: 35x30 yard area marked with cones, split into two halves by a halfway line.
  2. Goals: One goal at each end line of the area, two goals total.
  3. Team Blue: 6 blue outfield players, 3 spaced across each half acting as the attacking trio aiming to complete 5 passes before shooting on their half's goal.
  4. Team Red: 6 red outfield players, 3 in each half, with one defender positioned centrally in the half at a time while the other two wait on the sideline to rotate in after each shot.
  5. Team Red GK: 2 yellow goalkeepers, one positioned on the goal line of each goal.
  6. Equipment: 8 balls arranged in two piles of four, one on each side of the halfway line, plus cones marking the boundary of the area and the halfway line.
Instructions
  1. Each attacking team aims to complete five passes before attempting a shot on goal.
  2. Each team starts with one ball in play and four on the sideline.
  3. The practice begins with either a defender passing to an attacker or an attacker retrieving a ball from the sideline.
  4. Defenders rotate after each shot taken by the attackers.
  5. Defenders aim to dribble or pass the ball to the halfway line to score a point.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Use a good first touch to control the ball.
  • Keep your head up to locate options.
  • Maintain ball movement into open spaces.
  • Pass with accuracy, timing, and creativity.
  • Stay positive and focus on scoring.
  • Execute good movements, including diagonal and overlapping runs.
  • Receive with the furthest foot to create space.
  • Support teammates with proper angles and distances.
  • Stay aware of passing options and body positioning.
  • Make quick and confident decisions.
  • Use quality receiving touches.
  • Encourage player communication.
  • Finish moves with urgency.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Limit the number of touches each player can take.
2. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure.
3. Require more passes before a team can shoot.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to allow more space.
2. Reduce the number of defenders to create a 3v0.
3. Allow an extra player to join each attacking team.
