Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones (to mark out the 30x40 playing area)
  • Four portable goals
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x40 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Four goals, one positioned at the centre of each side of the area
  3. Team Blue: 6 blue outfield players start inside the area maintaining possession, spaced evenly across the playing area
  4. Team Red: 3 red outfield players start inside the area as defenders, spaced evenly between the four goals
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and sides of the 30x40 yard area, four portable goals centred on each side of the area
Instructions
  1. The six players maintain possession, aiming to complete six consecutive passes to score a point.
  2. If the three defenders win the ball, they can score by shooting into any of the four goals.
  3. Rotate players regularly to ensure experience in both roles.
  4. Restart play from a neutral position after each goal or lost possession.
Coaching Points
  • Effective communication among all players.
  • Use angles and distances for optimal support.
  • Make quick and confident decisions both on and off the ball.
  • Keep your head up to maintain awareness.
  • Execute quality, accurate passes with appropriate speed and disguise.
  • Select the right pass technique and timing.
  • Quickly support the player with the ball.
  • Use proper body shape to maintain control.
  • Encourage consistent ball protection under pressure.
  • Understand spatial awareness to create space.
  • Demonstrate good movement to show for the ball.
  • Recognize and utilize passing options effectively.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area to 25x35 yards.
2. Add an additional defender to make it 6v4.
3. Require more than six passes for a goal.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area to 35x45 yards.
2. Limit defenders to scoring in only two designated goals.
3. Allow the possession team five passes instead of six to earn a goal.
