Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Markers for a 25x20 yard area
  • Three mini goals
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 25x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Two mini goals side by side on one end line, one mini goal centred on the opposite end line
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players start with the ball at the end of the area with the single mini goal
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start near the 2 mini goals end, ready to receive the defenders' pass
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 25x20 yard area, two mini goals on one end line, one mini goal on the opposite end line, soccer balls with the defenders to start
Instructions
  1. One member in Team Red (Defenders) play a pass to one of the attackers.
  2. Attackers (Team Blue) attempt to score in the single mini goal.
  3. Defenders work together to stop attacks and score in the two mini goals if they win possession.
  4. Rotate players through attacker and defender roles frequently.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage clear and constant communication among players.
  • Focus on effective angles and distances for support.
  • Ensure a good first touch and head-up play.
  • Promote quick support and positive attacking movements.
  • Emphasize quality passing: accuracy, timing, and disguise.
  • Maintain dynamic ball movement with composed passing.
  • Reinforce realistic defending standards.
  • Develop correct passing and receiving techniques.
  • Improve decision-making skills regarding passing and support.
  • Teach players to seize attacking opportunities and exploit overloads.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Add an additional defender.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Add an additional attacker.
3. Remove one mini goal from the defenders' end.
