Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones
  • Goal
Setup
  1. Area: Penalty area (18x44 yards) marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal at the end of the penalty area for the attacker to shoot at
  3. Group: 5 players total, 4 crossers spread evenly around the outside of the penalty area (numbered 1 to 4) and 1 attacker starting at the edge of the box
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the penalty area boundary and each crosser's position, balls with the crossers for delivery
Instructions
  1. Upon the coach's command, the designated crosser delivers the ball into the penalty area.
  2. The attacker makes a timed run to meet and finish the cross.
  3. Allow the attacker to reset between crosses.
  4. Rotate players so each experiences different crossing angles and takes a turn as the attacker.
Coaching Points
  • Focus on accuracy and timing of crosses
  • Encourage clear communication between players
  • Ensure proper contact and technique when crossing
  • Evaluate decision-making on when and where to cross
  • Emphasize a quick, effective first touch if required
  • Observe attackers' angles of run
  • Attackers should arrive late to meet the cross
  • Continuously assess quality of finishing techniques
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Add a defender to increase pressure on the attacker.
2. Reduce the time margin between crosses.
3. Vary the speed and height of the crosses.
Make it easier:
1. Allow attackers more time to reset.
2. Use static defenders who don't challenge actively.
3. Simplify crosses to ensure they are floated and easier to control.
