Equipment
- Cones
- Two small goals
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two small goals positioned side by side at one end of the area
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts centrally between the two goals, facing the opposite end
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts at the opposite end of the area, facing Red 1 and the goals
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 30x20 area, two small goals at one end, soccer balls for play
Instructions
- White 1 attacks 1v1 against Red 1, attempting to score in either of the small goals.
- Once a goal is scored, missed, or the ball goes out, White 1 becomes the new defender.
- Red 2 joins as the next attacker, keeping the pattern continuous.
- Repeat the sequence with each player.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close ball control.
- Eyes up to assess the defender and goal.
- Decide whether to dribble, shoot or pass.
- Use acceleration to beat the defender.
- Apply effective dribbling techniques to create shooting chances.
- Engage and draw the defender to exploit 1v1 opportunities.
- Develop the ability to change direction quickly.
- Embrace a positive, attacking mindset.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the size of the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Add a time limit for attackers to take a shot.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to provide more space for attackers.
2. Allow attackers to start closer to the goals.
