Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Four goals
  • Soccer balls
  • Cones for marking the area
Setup
  1. Area: 22x22 yard square area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Four small goals, one centred on each side of the square
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts inside the square, defending and attacking their two assigned opposite goals
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts inside the square, defending and attacking their two assigned opposite goals
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and side-midpoints of the 22x22 yard square, four goals positioned at the midpoint of each side, soccer balls for play
Instructions
  1. Teams start inside the square, with one ball in play.
  2. Players aim to score in either of their assigned goals.
  3. If the ball goes out, restart play with a pass or dribble from the sidelines.
  4. Encourage quick passing and movement to create scoring opportunities while defending goals.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Utilize a good first touch to maintain control.
  • Keep your head up to enhance awareness.
  • Move the ball efficiently into open spaces.
  • Avoid straight-line passes; use angles.
  • Focus on pass quality regarding accuracy, timing, and disguise.
  • Make informed selections of pass types.
  • Adjust body shape for optimal receiving angles.
  • Maintain constant awareness of passing options.
  • Receive with furthest foot to maximize space.
  • Support players by creating space and movement.
  • Recognize passing priorities to enhance decision-making.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the space to 15x15 meters to increase pressure.
2. Add a player to each team to raise the challenge.
3. Limit touches per player to two.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the area to 25x25 meters for more space.
2. Allow unlimited touches for better control.
3. Assign a neutral player to support both teams.
