Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
- Three cones per pair
- One ball per pair
Setup
- Area: Three cones in a straight line, 10 yards apart between each pair, for a 20-yard total line per pair.
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player (attacker) starts at the middle cone with the ball.
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player (defender) starts directly opposite the attacker, mirroring them from the other side of the middle cone.
- Equipment: Three cones per pair arranged in a straight line 10 yards apart, one ball per pair placed with the attacker at the middle cone.
Instructions
- Attacker moves the ball back and forth to deceive the defender.
- On their cue, the attacker accelerates towards either of the outer cones, attempting to reach it before the defender.
- The defender shadows the attacker, attempting to reach the cone simultaneously or before them.
- Attacker earns a point by reaching the cone first; the defender earns a point by arriving first or at the same time.
- Swap roles after each attempt, and switch partners every few minutes.
Coaching Points

Variations
Make it harder:

2. Introduce obstacles around the cones for the attacker.
3. Remove rest intervals between each attempt.
Make it easier:
1. Increase distance between cones.
2. Allow the attacker multiple touches to maintain control.
3. Slow down the defender's initial reaction time.
