Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Markers
  • Four small goals
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 27x22 yard area marked with markers
  2. Goals: Two small goals on each end line, four small goals total
  3. Team Red: 2 red outfield players, one attacker and one defender, starting outside the area at one diagonal corner
  4. Team Blue: 2 blue outfield players, one attacker and one defender, starting outside the area at the opposite diagonal corner
  5. Equipment: Markers marking the corners of the 27x22 yard area, four small goals positioned two per end line, soccer balls at the coach's serving position
Instructions
  1. On the coach's signal, the first player from each group sprints around their respective small goals.
  2. The coach serves a ball to the designated attacker, typically a red player.
  3. The game transitions into a 2v2 as remaining players enter to support their teammate.
  4. Reds aim to dribble past defenders and score in either goal.
  5. If defenders win possession, they attack the opposite two goals.
  6. Reset and repeat.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close control of the ball.
  • Make decisive dribbling decisions.
  • Use deceptive moves to unbalance the defender.
  • Keep head up to assess options.
  • Execute quality technique in beating opponents.
  • Accelerate after beating a player.
  • Protect the ball under pressure.
  • Create and exploit space effectively in 1v1s.
  • Gain confidence in 1v1 situations.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Limit the number of touches for attackers.
3. Introduce a time limit to score a goal.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Allow attackers more touches.
3. Add a neutral player to create a 3v2 advantage.
