Equipment
- Cones (for marking the 10x10 area and corners)
- Football(s)
Setup
- Area: 10x10 yard grid marked with cones
- Group: 4 players start one at each corner of the grid
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 10x10 yard grid, 1 football
Instructions
- Starting player passes the ball clockwise to the next player and follows the pass to the next corner.
- Third player dribbles to the last corner after receiving the pass and continues the sequence.
- Players use the inside of the furthest foot to receive, open their bodies, and pass the ball.
- Coaches should change direction every few minutes to enhance adaptability.
Coaching Points
- Relax on the first touch.
- Use proper technique: cushion or wedge touch.
- Communicate effectively with fellow players.
- Keep the ball moving constantly.
- Position in line with the ball.
- Avoid straight lines when moving the ball.
- Ensure high quality of passing.
- Use the correct body part for receiving.
- Maintain realistic distance between players.
- Develop good ball control with a precise first touch.
- Cushion the ball using the instep.
- Refine technical skills in receiving the ball.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the speed of play.
2. Reduce grid size for tighter control.
3. Use non-dominant foot only.
Make it easier:
1. Increase grid size for more space.
2. Allow an unlimited number of touches before passing.
3. Use dominant foot only.
