- - Balls for half the players
Setup
- Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 2 players, 1 with a ball and 1 without, spread out evenly within the area
- Equipment: Cones marking the 30x30 yard playing area, multiple cones marking 1-yard-wide gates spaced throughout the area, balls given to half of the players
Instructions
- Players with the ball pass to those without.
- Receiving players must aim to move through a gate with their first touch.
- Players should scan their surroundings to avoid collisions and quickly find a passing option.
- The objective is to continuously pass and move, creating space and finding new gates.
- Encourage players to communicate and support each other with good angles and distances.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively with teammates.
- Create space to receive the ball.
- Maintain good angles and support distances.
- Make quick decisions on and off the ball.
- Use a quality first touch.
- Move off straight lines when needed.
- Ensure passes are accurate with appropriate weight.
- Keep light on feet for quicker adjustments.
- Use body shape to shield the ball.
- Observe and adapt to the session's flow.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Decrease the size of gates to challenge precision.
2. Add defenders to increase pressure on receivers.
Make it easier:
1. Increase gate width for easier access.
2. Allow players more time per pass by pausing between actions.
