Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • - Cones/Markers to outline the 35x25 area
  • - 2 Small Goals
  • - Multiple Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 35x25 yard area marked with cones/markers
  2. Goals: One small goal centred on each of the two end lines
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player (defender) starts inside the area, with 3 additional red defenders waiting on the sidelines to join as pass sequences are completed
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
  5. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players (attackers) start spaced evenly across the playing area
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal
  7. Equipment: Cones/markers outlining the 35x25 area, 2 small goals centred on each end line, multiple balls available for restarts
Instructions
  1. Attackers aim to retain possession from the single defender.
  2. Complete three consecutive passes to bring in an additional defender.
  3. Continue to add defenders as pass sequences are achieved.
  4. If defenders win the ball, they attempt to score in either goal.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage continuous communication.
  • Players should move to create receiving space.
  • Form triangles for effective passing.
  • Focus on a solid first touch.
  • Keep the ball moving into available space.
  • Ensure accuracy, timing, and disguise of passes.
  • Offer quick support to the ball carrier.
  • Adopt a suitable body shape to receive and pass.
  • Adjust angles on the first touch for better positioning.
  • Be cautious not to force the pass unnecessarily.
  • Transition swiftly between attack and defense.
  • Utilize diamonds and triangles for support.
  • Make decisive passing choices and maintain awareness of defender positions.
  • Reinforce pass-and-move strategies consistently.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure on attackers.
2. Limit the number of touches allowed per player.
3. Increase the number of defenders added with successive pass completions.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to provide more space.
2. Reduce the number of defenders that join after pass completions.
3. Allow attackers unlimited touches to control and pass effectively.
