Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the area and circle
  • Balls, one per attacking team
Setup
  1. Area: 25x25 yard area with a central circle marked by cones
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts inside the central circle as the defender
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players split into two groups of 2, spaced evenly around the outside of the circle
  4. Equipment: cones marking the outer 25x25 yard boundary and the central circle, 2 balls with one held by each attacking group of blue players
Instructions
  1. Attacking players dribble into the circle.
  2. Pass the ball to a teammate outside the circle after entering.
  3. Defenders attempt to intercept passes or tackle players.
  4. Scoring occurs for every successful in-and-out move.
  5. Rotate attacking and defending teams upon a successful defensive action.
Coaching Points
  • Close down the ball quickly with concentration.
  • Maintain a good body shape: low and side-on.
  • Stay light on feet for quick reactions.
  • Win the ball when possible.
  • Make play predictable for teammates.
  • Employ intelligent 1v1 defending.
  • Press with the correct distance and cover.
  • Jockey using staggered feet for balance.
  • Read the attacker's intentions.
  • Use controlled tackling techniques from both feet.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the circle.
2. Increase the number of defenders.
3. Limit the time attackers have to exit the circle.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the circle.
2. Decrease the number of defenders.
3. Allow attackers more touches within the circle.
