Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Soccer Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: Two flat goals 2 yards apart on one end line, and two angled goals 2 yards apart on the opposite end line
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield attacker starts at the end line between the two flat goals, with a ball
  4. Team Red: 1 red outfield defender starts inside the area
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 area, cones forming two flat goals 2 yards apart on one end line, cones forming two angled goals 2 yards apart on the opposite end line, and soccer balls for the attackers
Instructions
  1. The first attacker attempts to dribble past the defender and score by dribbling through an 'angled' goal.
  2. Defenders aim to win the ball and score by dribbling through a 'flat' goal.
  3. If the ball exits the area, the attacker returns to the line and a new attacker starts.
  4. Rotate roles after a set time.
Coaching Points
  • Use disguise to deceive opponents.
  • Maintain a good first touch and keep your head up.
  • Keep the ball moving into open spaces and away from the defender's reach.
  • Stay positive and maintain a proactive approach.
  • Focus on technical execution and quick acceleration.
  • Control the ball closely when near the defender.
  • Create and exploit space effectively to beat opponents.
  • Execute attacking moves at the optimal distance from the defender.
  • Utilize both feet to improve dribbling versatility.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the space to 15x15 yards to increase difficulty.
2. Use a smaller goal size to require greater accuracy.
3. Mandate attackers to perform a specific dribble move before scoring.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of goals to make scoring easier.
2. Allow attackers to start further from the defender for more time to react.
3. Remove one defender to reduce pressure on the attacker.
