Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 10x10 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group GK: 2 yellow goalkeepers positioned facing each other on opposite sides of the area, standing 10 yards apart
  3. Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 10x10 yard area, 1 soccer ball shared between the pair of goalkeepers
Instructions
  1. Players pass the ball to each other using chest passes.
  2. Increase intensity gradually by shortening the time between passes.
  3. Add variations such as using javelin throws and introducing an additional ball.
  4. Instruct players to lay down and quickly get up as part of the sequence to enhance reaction speed.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate clearly with your partner.
  • Gradually increase the intensity to raise heart rate and muscle temperature.
  • Ensure all players hydrate regularly during the drill.
  • Warm up sessions should be structured, enjoyable, and purposeful.
  • Encourage a gradual start, building intensity progressively.
  • Emphasize the importance of a proper warm-up in preparing both body and mind for optimal performance.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Introduce a third ball into the drill.
2. Decrease the space between players to increase difficulty.
Make it easier:
1. Allow players more time between passes.
2. Increase the practice area size to provide more space for reaction.
