Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 2 mini goals
  • Supply of soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 25x25 yard area
  2. Goals: One mini goal centred on each end line
  3. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the goal at one end, facing the centre of the area
  4. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the goal at the opposite end, facing the centre of the area
  5. Coach: 2 grey servers with a supply of soccer balls, one positioned directly behind each goal
  6. Equipment: 2 mini goals, one at each end of the 25x25 area
Instructions
  1. The server behind the goal plays the ball to the second server.
  2. The second server takes a first-time shot towards either goal.
  3. Each goalkeeper must be ready to react and attempt to save the shot.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain a forward-leaning stance on the balls of the feet.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Stand tall and balanced in 1v1 situations.
  • Always anticipate a shot and cover all angles.
  • Be confident and fast in reactions.
  • Track the angle and distance of the approaching ball.
  • Move smoothly into ready positions.
  • Evaluate and adjust positioning swiftly.
  • Maintain high intensity with good form and technique.
  • Ensure adequate recovery time between high-speed actions.
  • Stay light and agile when shifting positions.
  • Focus on the flight of the ball and collection timing.
  • Aim to improve overall 1v1 success rate.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance of the server's pass to the second server.
2. Use a smaller playing area to increase shooting pressure.
3. Introduce a third server for varied shot angles.
Make it easier:
1. Allow the second server to control the ball before shooting.
2. Decrease the size of the playing area.
3. Use larger goals for easier saves.
