Equipment
- Cones of various colors
- One ball per player
Setup
- Area: 22x22 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 outfield player (minimum, add one per additional participant) starts inside the area with a ball, ready to dribble
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 22x22 yard area, various colored cones scattered randomly within the area, one ball per player
Instructions
- Players dribble the ball around the area, maintaining control.
- When a color is called, players stop their ball and sprint to the corresponding colored cone.
- After touching the cone, players run back to their ball and resume dribbling.
- Repeat at varying intervals to maintain pace and challenge.
Coaching Points
- Encourage constant player movement and engagement.
- Emphasize spatial awareness and adapting to space.
- Focus on close control using different foot parts.
- Foster a fun and inclusive environment.
- Allow the session to be a learning experience driven by player interaction.
- Highlight the importance of adjusting speed while dribbling.
- Ensure players comprehend the drill and its objectives.
- Observe and guide players on maintaining control under pressure.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase dribbling speed requirement.
2. Add more colors to increase decision-making complexity.
3. Introduce time limits for reaching the cones.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the number of cone colors to decrease complexity.
2. Allow players more time to reach the colored cones.
3. Use larger playing area to give more space for maneuvering.
