Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for boundary and counter line
  • Two goals
  • Balls for play
  • Bibs for team identification
Setup
  1. Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal centred on each of the two short end lines
  3. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start spaced evenly across the playing area
  4. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the red team's goal
  5. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start spaced evenly across the playing area
  6. Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line of the blue team's goal
  7. Equipment: Cones marking the four corners of the 40x30 yard area, two goals centred on each end line, and cones marking a counter line opposite each goal
Instructions
  1. Begin with the attacking team trying to score on either goal.
  2. If attackers score, they keep possession and restart from the counter line.
  3. When defenders win the ball, they counter-attack towards the opposing counter line.
  4. Switch roles after a set time or when defenders successfully score.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication among players.
  • Maintain concentration, especially when transitioning roles.
  • Adopt a low and side-on body stance for effective defense.
  • Closest player should close down the ball promptly.
  • Show patience and pick moments to intercept.
  • Focus on covering and compact defense formation.
  • Block passing lanes by identifying them quickly.
  • Attempt to double-team when appropriate.
  • Ensure defense is coordinated through player guidance.
  • Use body positioning to force attackers into predictable plays.
  • Work as a cohesive defensive unit, covering and squeezing space effectively.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase defensive pressure.
2. Limit the number of touches allowed for the attacking team.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area to reduce defensive pressure.
2. Allow attackers to start closer to the goals to initiate plays.
3. Add an additional player to the defending team.
