Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Two goals
  • Bibs
  • Multiple balls around the area
  • Optional: Goalkeepers
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones, adjustable based on player numbers.
  2. Goals: One small goal centred on each end line of the area.
  3. Team Red: 3 red outfield players spaced evenly across the area, ready to press for possession.
  4. Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players spaced evenly across the area, ready to press for possession.
  5. Neutral: 2 black neutral players positioned inside the area, moving freely to assist whichever team is attacking.
  6. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and boundaries of the 30x20 yard area, multiple balls scattered around the area for quick restarts.
Instructions
  1. Players maintain possession by throwing to teammates or neutrals.
  2. Score by heading the ball into the goal.
  3. If the ball hits the ground, goes out of play, or a player holds it over 3 seconds, the opposing team restarts.
  4. Encourage players to create space and use effective communication.
Coaching Points
  • Communicate effectively on the pitch
  • Keep eyes fixed on the ball
  • Adopt a strong body shape to attack the ball
  • Move intelligently to create space
  • Make contact with the middle of the ball using the forehead
  • Keep eyes open during the header
  • Time runs effectively to attack the ball
  • Support teammates with timely runs
  • Redirect the ball by turning the body before heading
  • Build confidence through proper heading technique
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area size to increase pressure.
2. Limit time on the ball to two seconds before passing.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size for more space to maneuver.
2. Allow players to pivot while holding the ball to find a teammate.
