Equipment
- Markers to outline a 40x30 yard area and 9 smaller zones within
- 3 balls, one for each team
Setup
- Area: 40x30 yard area marked with cones and divided into 9 equal smaller zones (roughly 13.3x10 yards each)
- Team Red: 3 red outfield players start spread one per zone with no two teammates sharing a zone, in possession of their own ball
- Team Blue: 3 blue outfield players start spread one per zone with no two teammates sharing a zone, in possession of their own ball
- Neutral: 3 black outfield players (third team) start spread one per zone with no two teammates sharing a zone, in possession of their own ball
- Equipment: Markers outlining the 40x30 yard area and the 9 internal zones, plus 3 balls, one per team
Instructions
- Players pass the ball within their team, ensuring no teammates are in the same zone.
- Each player must move to an adjacent zone after passing.
- Focus on quick, accurate passes and effective communication, avoiding other teams.
Coaching Points
- Encourage continuous communication among players.
- Focus on creating space and using angles effectively.
- Maintain good body shape for receiving passes.
- Keep heads up to identify passing options quickly.
- Use a strong technique for flat, crisp passes.
- Move immediately after passing to maintain fluidity.
- Develop awareness of teammates' positioning.
- Make early decisions about passing and movement.
- Reinforce the importance of supporting the player with the ball.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Require one-touch passing.
2. Reduce the zone size to increase difficulty.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more touches per player.
2. Increase the size of zones to reduce pressure.
