Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
- Cones for marking the area
- Bibs for tagging
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 red outfield player starting inside the marked area
- Neutral: 1 black tagger wearing a bib, starting inside the marked area
- Equipment: cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard area, 1 bib for the designated tagger
Instructions
- Players move around the area by hopping, changing legs when necessary but not alternately.
- The tagger tries to tag other players, exchanging roles when a player is tagged.
- Players can avoid being tagged by balancing still on one leg for up to five seconds.
- Continue the game with players swapping roles as needed.
Coaching Points
- Emphasize clear communication among players.
- Encourage players to increase intensity gradually.
- Observe and provide feedback on players' focus and movement.
- Ensure hydration breaks throughout the session.
- Highlight the importance of warming up the body progressively.
- Make the activity fun and relevant to the session's goals.
- Reinforce the habit of effective warm-ups for optimal performance.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the pace by reducing the 'safe position' duration to three seconds.
2. Shrink the playing area to make avoiding the tagger more challenging.
Make it easier:
1. Allow players to switch legs more frequently while hopping.
2. Expand the playing area to provide more space for movement.
