Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Goal
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 15x15 yard square starting at the edge of the 18-yard box
  2. Goals: One standard goal on the goal line facing the square
  3. Group: 3 red outfield players - one at each of the two far markers of the square and one in the centre of the square, each starting with a ball
  4. Group GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned on the goal line facing the square
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 15x15 yard square and additional marker cones inside the penalty area no wider than the goal width, one soccer ball per player
Instructions
  1. Player passes to the middle player for a one-two exchange.
  2. Receiving player aims to shoot within two touches.
  3. The player at the opposite marker runs in for potential rebounds.
  4. Rotate player roles after each attempt.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain forward body weight, balanced on balls of feet.
  • Use effective shooting technique.
  • Communicate clearly with teammates.
  • Adopt a wide stance in 1v1 situations.
  • Make quick decisions on action.
  • Stay alert and expect the shot.
  • Cover angles effectively.
  • Be confident and quick to react.
  • Analyze approach by angle and distance.
  • Glide into ready positions efficiently.
  • Focus on the flight and pace of the ball.
  • Execute timely collection of the shot.
  • Stay light on feet for better movement.
  • Remain focused and organized.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the time allowed for shooting.
2. Increase the number of players making runs for rebounds.
3. Add a defender to pressure the shooting player.
Make it easier:
1. Allow more touches before shooting.
2. Use a larger goal to increase scoring chances.
3. Remove the pressure of the incoming runner focusing only on the shot.
