Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
- 15x15 yard marked area
- 2 balls
- Spare balls
Setup
- Area: 15x15 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 8 red outfield players split into 4 equal groups of 2, each group lined up along one side of the square
- Equipment: 4 cones marking the corners of the 15x15 yard area, 2 balls given to two adjacent players in one group, spare balls placed around the perimeter for quick access
Instructions
- Players with the ball pass to a player directly across from them, then move through the center to join the opposite line.
- Receiving players control the ball and replicate the pass-and-move sequence.
- Players must time and angle their passes to avoid collisions and maintain flow.
- Aim to complete as many successful sequences as possible in a set time without collisions.
Coaching Points
- Maintain constant communication among players
- Use a good first touch to control the ball
- Keep head up to assess surroundings
- Stay light on feet to react quickly
- Position body to receive and pass effectively
- Focus on pass quality - accuracy, weight, timing
- Encourage both feet use for balance
- Ensure continuous ball movement
- Monitor timing for moving the ball forward
- Observe technique to offer feedback
- Understand how pass speed affects receiver's movement
- Consider clear passing pathways
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add a third ball to increase complexity.
3. Set stricter time limits for completing sequences.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area for more space and time.
2. Use only one ball to simplify decision-making.
3. Allow stationary receiving to focus on pass quality.
