Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • - Cones to mark the area
  • - Balls (including spares for quick restarts)
Setup
  1. Area: 15x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Group: 4 players start inside the area, split into pairs
  3. Neutral: 4 black target players, one positioned at each corner of the area
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the corners and boundary of the 15x20 area, 1 ball given to a target player to start, spare balls scattered around the field for quick restarts
Instructions
  1. Target player initiates play with a pass to an inside player.
  2. The attacking pair aims to maintain possession using support from perimeter players.
  3. Permitted maximum of three touches per player to encourage speed.
  4. Perimeter players can move laterally within their line to receive and pass.
  5. Score a point for every five successful passes.
  6. Swap roles between inside and perimeter players regularly.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage constant communication.
  • Focus on creating space to receive the ball.
  • Form triangles for effective passing.
  • Maintain optimal support angles and distances.
  • Encourage early decision-making on and off the ball.
  • Emphasize a good first touch.

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Limit to two touches per player.
2. Increase playing area size to stretch fitness.
3. Introduce a defender to apply pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Remove touch restrictions for perimeter players.
2. Allow passes to be made with additional touches.
3. Use a slightly smaller pitch to compress space.
