Equipment
- Cones to mark playing area
- One ball per pair of players
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 2 players forming one pair, one player standing with legs apart at a fixed spot 2 yards from their partner, and the other player standing 2 yards away facing them holding the ball
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 yard playing area
Instructions
- The player with the ball attempts to pass it through their partner's legs.
- Award two points for passing cleanly between the legs and one point if the ball hits their partner's legs.
- After one minute, players swap roles.
- Gradually increase the distance between players to add challenge.
- Encourage the use of both feet to improve skill.
Coaching Points
- Encourage players continuously to boost confidence
- Make sure the session is enjoyable and age-appropriate
- Focus on basic passing technique
- Promote active participation from all players
- Let the game naturally teach technique, limiting external coaching
- Foster teamwork and communication within pairs
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the passing distance between players.
2. Introduce a time limit for passing between legs.
3. Require players to use their weaker foot only.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the distance between players.
2. Allow passing with the inside of the foot only.
3. Permit a slower pace to ensure control.
