Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 20 yard gap between two starting points, with three cones spaced 5 yards apart in a straight line between them.
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts on the red starting line, one of the two 20-yard-apart lines.
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts on the blue starting line, 20 yards opposite the red line, beginning in possession of the ball.
  4. Equipment: 3 cones placed in a straight line between the two starting points, spaced 5 yards apart, plus 1 ball starting with the blue group.
Instructions
  1. The player with the ball dribbles past two cones.
  2. They pass the ball between the second and third cone to the player in the opposite group.
  3. The receiving player continues the sequence by dribbling and delivering the ball back through the cones.
  4. Players then rejoin their original line after completing the pass.
Coaching Points
  • Effective communication between players.
  • Maintain good angles and distances of support.
  • Develop a good first touch and keep the head up.
  • Prioritize movement and stay light on feet.
  • Ensure quality passes with accurate timing and disguise.
  • Choose the appropriate passing technique.
  • Encourage combination play using minimal touches.
  • Keep passes on the ground and correct any technical shortfalls in passing.
  • Observe the session from different angles and make concise points.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the distance between cones to increase passing difficulty.
2. Introduce a defender to apply real-game pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase cone spacing to allow for easier passing.
2. Allow receiving players more time to control the ball before passing.
