Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Two cones
  • Full-size goal
  • Ball
Setup
  1. Area: Goal area in front of a full-size goal, no additional bounded area
  2. Goals: One full-size goal
  3. Team Red GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned centrally in the goal area, starting behind the two cones
  4. Coach: 1 grey coach positioned a suitable serving distance in front of the goal, ready to serve the ball
  5. Equipment: Two cones spaced evenly in front of the goal for the goalkeeper to hop over, 1 ball with the coach
Instructions
  1. The goalkeeper hops over the cones using alternating legs to reach the set position.
  2. Once set, the coach serves the ball to practice either a low or mid-diving save.
  3. Emphasize attacking the ball rather than falling back during the save.
  4. Repeat and vary the service location and height to challenge the goalkeeper.
Coaching Points

  • Keep the body weight forward and knees slightly bent.

Variations

2. Use more balls to simulate successive shots rapidly.
Make it easier:
1. Allow the goalkeeper to only use their strong leg initially.
2. Slow down the pace of the coach's service.
