Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • 30x40 yard playing area
  • Minimum of 10 cones
  • 2 soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x40 yard area
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts spaced out in their own half
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts spaced out in their own half
  4. Equipment: 10 cones total, 5 aligned in a row at least 1 yard apart along the red team's back line and 5 aligned in a row at least 1 yard apart along the blue team's back line, 1 ball given to each team
Instructions
  1. Each team attempts to knock over the opponent's cones by passing or dribbling.
  2. When a cone is knocked over, the player resets the cone and relocates one of their team's cones to the opponent’s line.
  3. Play is continuous, and players can play in all areas of the field.
Coaching Points
  • Promote quick ball movement and quality passing.
  • Ensure players target cones with precision and intent.
  • Encourage constant movement and communication.
  • Adapt intensity to overload the aerobic system effectively.
  • Plan sessions that allow adequate recovery.
  • Monitor for signs of overtraining and adjust accordingly.
  • Encourage strategic decision-making during play.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the number of cones each team defends.
2. Reduce the space between cones to increase difficulty.
3. Limit the number of touches per player before passing.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the distance between cones to simplify targeting.
2. Allow players more time to position before opponents restart.
3. Remove or reduce defensive pressure.
