- Balls

Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones, containing a 2x2 yard zone in each of the 4 corners and one 2x2 yard zone in the centre.
- Group: 1 blue player starts with a ball in any one of the 5 zones.
- Neutral: 1 black tagger, identified by bibs, starting outside the zones without a ball.
- Equipment: Cones marking the outer 20x20 yard boundary and the 5 zones (4 corners plus centre), 1 ball for the blue player, bibs worn by the tagger.
Instructions
- Blue players dribble between zones, avoiding taggers.
- Only one player is allowed per zone, players must leave if another enters.
- If tagged, players swap roles with the tagger.
- Players are safe in a zone but must keep moving to score points.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close control of the ball.
- Keep your head up to scan for taggers.
- Make quick decisions on when and where to dribble.
- Use acceleration to escape tight spots.
- Develop confidence to utilize dribbling skills like step-overs and feints.
- Penetrate quickly when gaps appear.
- Protect the ball to maintain possession.
- Dribble using both feet for versatility.
- Change direction quickly under pressure.
- Encourage free expression and creativity.
- Enhance spatial awareness.
- Utilize the right dribbling technique for each situation.
- Focus on the end product after dribbling.
- Observe from outside the area to assess player decisions.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the zones to increase challenge.
2. Add more taggers to increase pressure.
3. Restrict dribbling to weaker foot only.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area to reduce congestion.
2. Allow two players per zone for safety.
3. Reduce the number of taggers to decrease pressure.
