Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Balls
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones, with a 2-yard box marked along each of the four sides
  2. Team Red: 4 red outfield players start one in each of the four side boxes
  3. Team Blue: 4 blue outfield players start spaced evenly inside the area, each with a ball
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x30 yard area and the four 2-yard side boxes, balls for the blue dribbling group
Instructions
  1. On coach's command, dribblers pass to a player in a box.
  2. Box players control the ball and attack the open space.
  3. Dribblers move into a newly vacated box.
  4. Repeat, varying touch rules like requiring two touches before advancing.
Coaching Points
  • Maintain close ball control.
  • Use disguise and deception.
  • Keep your head up to read the game.
  • Stay positive and be aggressive when attacking space.
  • Focus on fast footwork and quick acceleration.
  • Employ both feet for dribbling and passing.
  • Gradually increase speed for mastery.
  • Pay attention to body shape while receiving and passing.
  • Develop fluency through repetition.
  • Practice various dribbling techniques and decision-making skills.
  • Build confidence in dribbling and space utilization.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Add defenders within the area to increase pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the boxes for easier control.
2. Allow more touches before passing or attacking.
