Equipment
- Two goals
- Cones for the 20x20 yard area
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two goals positioned 5 yards apart at one end of the area
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player (defender) starts with the ball near one edge of the area
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player (attacker) starts outside the area facing the goals
- Team Blue GK: 1 yellow goalkeeper positioned between the two goals to protect them
- Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 yard area, two goals set up 5 yards apart at one end, soccer balls for passing and finishing
Instructions
- The defender starts by passing the ball to the attacker.
- After the pass, the defender overlaps the attacker into the area.
- Coach signals which goal the attacker should target (A or B).
- The attacker attempts to score in the designated goal while the goalkeeper protects it.
- The defender applies pressure to regain possession.
- Switch roles after each turn.
Coaching Points
- Prioritize accuracy over power.
- Make quick, confident decisions.
- Maintain head up for awareness.
- Use feints to change shooting angles.
- Focus on quality shooting technique.
- Opt for shooting across the goalkeeper.
- Stay unpredictable in play.
- Execute clean first touches under pressure.
- Be consistent in hitting the target.
- Adapt shooting techniques to different situations.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the area size to increase pressure.
2. Add a second defender to enhance difficulty.
3. Decrease the distance between the goals.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the area size for more space.
2. Allow attackers more time before defenders engage.
3. Remove the goalkeeper for easier scoring opportunities.
