Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the grid
  • Soccer balls
Setup
  1. Area: 40x40 yard grid marked with cones, divided into 10x10 yard zones
  2. Team Red: 6 red outfield players spaced one per zone across the grid
  3. Team Blue: 6 blue outfield players spaced one per zone across the grid
  4. Equipment: Cones marking the outer 40x40 yard grid and the internal 10x10 yard zone lines, soccer balls for play
Instructions
  1. Start the game with one team in possession.
  2. Players move the ball by passing to teammates in other zones to maintain possession.
  3. Every successful pass across zones equals one point.
  4. Players should aim to score by continuously passing and maintaining control, adhering to the no-pass zone rule.
Coaching Points
  • Prioritize communication among teammates.
  • Positioning for optimal support with effective angles and distances.
  • Quick, decisive actions on and off the ball.
  • Maintain awareness with heads up.
  • Use quality passes with accuracy, timing, and disguise.
  • Stay agile and light on your feet.
  • Quick support is essential.
  • Ensure proper body orientation for receiving and distributing the ball.
  • Protect the ball to maintain possession.
  • Space creation, both individually and as a team.
  • Execute quick, crisp passes using the inside of the foot.
  • Encourage continuous movement to create passing lanes.
  • Analyze and adapt the session by observing from outside the playing grid.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce zone size to increase difficulty.
2. Limit the number of touches per player.
3. Add a time limit for each possession period.
Make it easier:
1. Increase zone size to provide more space.
2. Allow passes to players in adjacent zones to ease restrictions.
3. Use a smaller team size, such as 4v4, to reduce complexity.
