Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls
  • Cones for marking the area
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones, size adjustable for player numbers
  2. Group: 1 player starts inside the area holding a ball in hands
  3. Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 20x20 area, 1 ball per player
Instructions
  1. Players drop the ball onto one knee (thigh) and catch it.
  2. Alternate knees: drop on one knee, catch, then other knee, catch.
  3. Emphasize balance and technique.
  4. Encourage consistent repetition for skill improvement.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently
  • Maintain space awareness within the area
  • Focus on close ball control
  • Ensure the session is fun and age-appropriate
  • Include all players in the session
  • Facilitate practice rather than direct coaching
  • Enhance basic ball manipulation skills
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the area size to allow for more movement.
2. Introduce alternating foot touches after each knee catch.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the area size to limit movement.
2. Allow players to catch the ball with hands after each thigh touch.
