Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Balls (one per player)
  • Cones (for area and obstacles)
  • Bibs (for obstacles)
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard square area marked with cones
  2. Group: 1 player starts on one side of the square with a ball
  3. Equipment: 1 ball per player, cones and bibs scattered randomly in the center of the square forming the "octopus" and "tentacles" obstacles
Instructions
  1. Players dribble across the field, avoiding cones and bibs.
  2. Encourage players to maintain ball control and move quickly.
  3. Players should traverse the area within a few seconds to avoid getting 'caught' by the octopus.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently.
  • Focus on spatial awareness.
  • Emphasize close ball control.
  • Ensure the session is enjoyable.
  • Use all parts of the foot when dribbling.
  • Adjust speed according to the space available.
  • Allow the game to teach, minimizing direct interventions.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the number of cones and bibs in the middle.
3. Introduce time limits for crossing.
