Setup
- Area: 10 yard gap between two lines of markers, with a cone at the midpoint
- Group: 2 players start one at each end marker, facing each other across the 10 yard gap
- Equipment: Two lines of markers 10 yards apart, 1 cone at the midpoint, 1 ball per player
Instructions
- Players start dribbling from each end towards the middle cone simultaneously.
- Upon reaching the midpoint cone, perform a feint or move to go around it.
- Join the back of the opposite line after passing the cone.
- Ensure movements to the right or left of the cone to prevent collisions.
- Continue the cycle, focusing on consistent skill execution.
Coaching Points
- Maintain close ball control.
- Employ disguise to deceive opponents.
- Ensure a good first touch.
- Keep your head up for awareness.
- Move the ball into spaces to avoid defender legs.
- Foster a positive and proactive mindset.
- Develop speed with quick footwork.
- Focus on strong technique and acceleration.
- Pair players with similar skill levels to manage the challenge.
- Encourage experimentation with a variety of feints and step-overs.
- Practice moves with both feet to enhance balance and versatility.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between markers.
2. Require more complex moves or combinations at the cone.
3. Reduce the time allowed to complete the sequence.
Make it easier:
1. Decrease the distance between markers.
2. Allow players to choose any simple move at the cone.
3. Conduct the drill with staggered starts for reduced pressure.
