Equipment
- One ball per player
- Cones for marking boundaries
Setup
- Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 player starts inside the area with a ball
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners/boundaries of the 20x20 yard area, one ball per player
Instructions
- Players dribble freely within the marked area, imagining being in a jungle.
- After a few minutes, stop the activity and have players sit on their balls.
- Ask players what they 'saw' during their jungle exploration.
- Encourage them to share their experiences to build confidence and communication.
- Resume dribbling and repeat the process, inviting different players to speak each time.
Coaching Points
- Encourage players consistently.
- Maintain space awareness inside the area.
- Focus on close ball control.
- Ensure enjoyment and fun during the session.
- Facilitate rather than direct; let the game guide players.
- Use different parts of the foot for dribbling.
- Adjust ball speed as needed.
- Foster understanding of spatial awareness and ball control.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase difficulty.
2. Add obstacles using additional cones for players to dribble around.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area for more room.
2. Allow players to use both feet to control the ball more easily.
3. Provide additional time for players to practice sitting and discussing their experiences.
