Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones
  • Soccer balls
  • Bibs in three different colors
Setup
  1. Area: 30x30 yard grid marked with cones
  2. Team Red: 1 red outfield player (possession team) starting inside the grid
  3. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player (defending team) starting inside the grid
  4. Neutral: 1 black neutral player (support team) starting inside the grid
  5. Equipment: cones marking the corners of the 30x30 yard grid, soccer balls used for passing
Instructions
  1. The possession team, supported by the support team, passes the ball within the grid.
  2. Defenders try to win the ball by intercepting or pressuring.
  3. If defenders gain possession, the team that lost the ball becomes the new defenders.
Coaching Points
  • Apply immediate pressure on the ball holder.
  • Maintain strong communication and teamwork.
  • Keep team compact and balanced.
  • Utilize nearest player to pressure, others support.
  • Intercept and block passing lanes.
  • Direct play into predictable areas.
  • React quickly to changes in possession.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce grid size to 25x25 yards.
2. Impose stricter time or touch limits.
3. Increase the number of passes required before role-switching.
Make it easier:
1. Expand the grid to 35x35 yards.
2. Allow more touches for the possession team.
3. Introduce a neutral player to aid the possession team.
