Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • 2 Mini goals
  • Cones to mark 20x20 yard area and halfway line
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One mini goal at each end of the area
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player lined up opposite their mini goal
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player lined up opposite their mini goal
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 20x20 yard area and the halfway line, soccer balls placed on the halfway line slightly off-center between each group and their respective goal
Instructions
  1. The first player from each line sprints to collect a ball from the halfway line.
  2. Players then dribble the ball towards their goal.
  3. Upon reaching a shooting position, players take a shot at goal.
  4. After scoring, players stand behind the goal.
  5. The next player in line repeats the process.
  6. The team scoring the most goals in the quickest time wins.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage players consistently.
  • Maintain spatial awareness within the playing area.
  • Keep close control over the ball to facilitate dribbling.
  • Focus on enjoying the session.
  • Adapt practice to be relevant and age-appropriate.
  • Ensure all players are actively participating.
  • Prioritize player enjoyment and fun.
  • Allow the game to guide learning rather than over-coaching.
  • Use different parts of the foot for control.
  • Adjust dribbling speed effectively.
  • Reinforce close ball control skills.
  • Refine basic shooting techniques.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Increase the distance between the starting point and the balls.
2. Use a smaller goal to increase shooting challenge.
3. Limit the number of touches players can take before shooting.
Make it easier:
1. Reduce the playing area size for quicker dribbling.
2. Allow more touches before shooting.
3. Use larger goals to increase scoring opportunities.
