Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area divided into thirds, with a larger middle third

Instructions
  1. Start with the goalkeeper rolling out the ball.
  2. Teams attempt to score from the middle third using strategic play.
  3. Defensive players can carry the ball into the mid-third but retreat if possession is lost.
  4. Players rotate roles to experience being the deep-lying playmaker.
Coaching Points
  • Effective communication across the team.
  • Opt for supportive angles and correct distances.
  • Decide early on actions with and without the ball.
  • Maintain awareness by keeping your head up.
  • Quality and timing in passing, including disguise if needed.
  • Choose your passing technique wisely.
  • Offer immediate support to teammates.

  • Stay aware of teammate and opposition positions.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Limit the number of touches allowed in each zone.
2. Allow players from the middle third to briefly enter forward zones to add pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Allow players to move freely between zones without restrictions.
2. Permit scoring from any third to reduce positional pressure.
