Equipment
- Cones to mark the playing area
- One ball per player (except for the stingray)
Setup
- Area: 22x22 yard area marked with cones
- Group: 1 blue outfield player with a ball, positioned anywhere inside the area
- Neutral: 1 black 'stingray' player without a ball, starting inside the area
- Equipment: Cones marking the corners of the 22x22 yard area, one ball per player except the stingray
Instructions
- Players dribble their balls around the area.
- The stingray attempts to place a foot on other players' balls.
- If a player's ball is 'stung' or if they dribble out, they perform five toe taps.
- After toe taps, players resume dribbling.
- Rotate the stingray periodically.
Coaching Points
- Encourage players continuously.
- Develop spatial awareness within the marked area.
- Focus on close ball control.
- Ensure every player participates actively.
- Maintain a fun and engaging atmosphere.
- Use the game as a teaching tool.
- Practice using different parts of the foot for control.
- Vary the speed at which players move the ball.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the playing area size to increase difficulty.
2. Allow multiple stingrays to increase pressure.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area size for more space.
2. Use a larger ball for easier control.
