Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Cones for marking the area
  • Goals or gates at each end
  • Footballs for gameplay
Setup
  1. Area: 30x20 yard area marked with cones
  2. Goals: One goal or gate centred on each end line
  3. Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts spaced evenly across the area
  4. Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts spaced evenly across the area
  5. Equipment: Cones marking the 30x20 yard area, a goal or gate at each end, footballs for gameplay
Instructions
  1. Play begins with a regular kickoff.
  2. Players must pass backward to a teammate before attempting a one-touch finish.
  3. Encourage midfielders to advance for scoring opportunities.
  4. Continue play under regular football rules while adhering to the specific drill conditions.

  • Maintain effective communication

  • Make early decisions on and off the ball
  • Control the ball with a good first touch
  • Keep your head up to observe options

Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area for more pressure.
2. Limit the number of touches for all players.
3. Introduce a time limit for scoring after gaining possession.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area for more space.
2. Allow two-touch finishes instead of one.
3. Remove the backward-pass requirement temporarily.
