Equipment, Setup & Instructions
Equipment
  • Soccer balls
  • Cones for outlining the playing area, dungeon, castle, and cave
Setup
  1. Area: 20x20 yard area marked with cones, with a 5x5 yard dungeon in one corner and a 5x5 yard castle in the adjacent corner.
  2. Group: 2 blue robber players start spaced around the central cave area, outside the dungeon and castle zones.
  3. Neutral: 1 black neutral player (Prince/Princess) starts inside the castle zone.
  4. Equipment: cones marking the 20x20 yard playing area, cones marking the 5x5 yard dungeon in one corner, cones marking the 5x5 yard castle in the adjacent corner, and soccer balls piled in the central cave area to represent gold.
Instructions
  1. Robbers aim to steal balls from the cave and take them to the dungeon.
  2. Princes/Princesses try to tag robbers to send them to the dungeon.
  3. Tagged robbers can be freed by teammates tagging them.
  4. Robbers win by transferring all balls from the cave to the dungeon.
Coaching Points
  • Encourage player engagement and enjoyment.
  • Focus on spatial awareness within the playing area.
  • Develop close ball control using various parts of the foot.
  • Ensure the game is age appropriate and inclusive.
  • Let the game facilitate learning by itself.
  • Practice moving the ball at varying speeds.
  • Understand and navigate space efficiently.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the dungeon and cave areas.
2. Increase the number of Princes/Princesses.
3. Limit the number of balls robbers can take at once.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the dungeon and cave areas.
2. Reduce the number of Princes/Princesses.
3. Allow robbers to carry more than one ball at a time.
