Equipment
- Mannequin or pole
- 2 Soccer balls
- Markers for 15x15 yard area
Setup
- Area: 15x15 yard area marked with markers
- Group: 6 black outfield players, 2 starting beside the central mannequin and 4 split evenly in pairs on opposite ends of the grid
- Equipment: 1 mannequin or pole positioned in the center of the grid, 2 soccer balls placed at opposite ends of the grid, markers outlining the 15x15 yard area
Instructions
- Players next to the mannequin move away and receive passes simultaneously.
- Take the first touch across the body and play to players standing at the grid ends.
- Follow the pass and receive a short return pass before joining the line.
- Next two players move into the center and continue the sequence.
- Emphasize communication and maintaining movement realism.
Coaching Points
- Communicate clearly with teammates.
- Focus on good first touch across the body.
- Keep head up after receiving.
- Ensure accuracy and timing in passing.
- Receive on the furthest foot to face forward.
- Remain light on feet with proper body shape.
- Judge angles and distances for support.
- Choose the right pass type and disguise if necessary.
- Use the insides of feet for balance and control.
- Keep ball movement continuous to mimic game flow.
- Recognize how pass speed affects receiver's movement.
- Create space away from defenders.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area to increase pressure.
2. Add a defender to the central area for extra challenge.
3. Increase the speed of passing sequences.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the playing area size for more time and space.
2. Start with only one ball in play to reduce complexity.
