Equipment
- Two goals
- Cones
- Soccer balls
Setup
- Area: 30x30 yard area marked with cones
- Goals: Two goals placed back to back at the center of the area, surrounded by a circular cone boundary
- Team Red: 1 red outfield player starts outside the cone circle, defending the central goals
- Team Blue: 1 blue outfield player starts outside the cone circle, part of one attacking team working to score on the central goals
- Neutral: 1 black neutral player representing the second attacking team, starting outside the cone circle alongside Team Blue
- Equipment: Cones marking the outer 30x30 yard area, cones forming the circular boundary around the two central goals, two goals positioned back to back at the center, soccer balls for play
Instructions
- Attacking teams work together to maintain possession and create shooting opportunities.
- Players must shoot without entering the cone circle around the goals.
- If a goal is scored or missed, play continues without stopping.
- Rotate teams after a set time or number of goals.
Coaching Points
- Communicate effectively on and off the ball.
- Make quick, early decisions.
- Use a confident and accurate first touch.
- Keep your head up to assess options.
- Use quality passing—focus on accuracy, timing, and disguising passes.
- Move quickly to provide support.
- Position your body for optimal playmaking.
- Avoid forcing passes; keep the ball moving.
- Create space collectively.
- Recognize and utilize effective passing angles and distances.
- Maintain spatial awareness and make effective, deliberate passes.
Variations
Make it harder:
1. Reduce the size of the playing area.
2. Increase the number of defenders.
3. Restrict attackers to one-touch passes.
Make it easier:
1. Increase the size of the playing area.
2. Decrease the number of defenders.
3. Allow attackers more space by moving the cone boundary outward.
